Black balloons: an outline rather than a colour
Black works graphically in decor. It adds no hue. It draws the shape and creates the contrast that makes every other colour read more strongly. Which is why black balloons almost always appear alongside something pale or reflective.
An entirely black display is possible, but it needs light. In a dim room it collapses into an undifferentiated mass with no depth and no individual balloons.

- Black with one bright colour. Red, yellow or green against black look more saturated than usual.
Matt and gloss black differ considerably. Matt absorbs light and reads solid, gloss produces highlights and emphasises the curve.
Clear balloons with black confetti deliver the same graphic effect more gently and without weighing an arrangement down.

Black is often chosen for round numbers, where it reads as formality rather than mourning. The surrounding colours set that context.
For children's parties black works only as a detail inside a bright range.
In a photo corner a black background sharpens the figures, but it demands good light. Under weak lighting the detail disappears entirely.
Quantity matters too. A small share of black inside a pale display reads as graphic detail, while half the volume changes the mood of an entire event.
Ribbons under black balloons usually match the accent rather than the balloon. A gold or white ribbon gives the arrangement its lightness back.
Black is not a scheme by itself. It is a frame, and something has to sit inside it.
Practical notes
Black balloons heat in sun more than any other colour. Outdoors in summer a display lasts noticeably less time, and overheated latex bursts.
Gloss black shows dust and fingerprints. Wipe the balloons before installation.
Helium balloons hold their lift for a limited period, which is confirmed when ordering.
If a display crosses Yerevan on the day, have it arrive close to the start.
