Tulips with delivery in Tashkent: varieties, the homeland of wild tulips, and freshness from greenhouse to door

In Tashkent the tulip is no "office" flower but almost a local emblem. The foothills of the Western Tian Shan around the city are the historic homeland of wild tulips: it was from these parts that the ancestors of the garden varieties once made their way to Europe. In spring, Greig's tulip still blooms on the slopes — a species listed in Uzbekistan's Red Book. That bond with the local landscape makes the tulip here a seasonal sign of spring.

The category covers single-variety bouquets of 11 to 51 stems, mixed spring arrangements, and gift boxes pairing tulips with narcissi, ranunculus, and hyacinths. It's a seasonal flower: its peak runs March to May, and out of spring the tulip is brought in less often and costs more.

Groups and varieties

More than 3,000 tulip varieties are registered worldwide. Some 30–40 key ones reach the shelf, split into groups by bud shape, stem length, and flowering time.

  • Triumph — the classic cup-shaped bud, stem 40–50 cm. The most widespread group. Varieties: Strong Gold (yellow), Negrita (purple), Ile de France (red).
  • Darwin Hybrids — large-headed, up to 12 cm across, a very sturdy stem. Apeldoorn (scarlet), Ivory Floradale (cream). For voluminous single-variety bouquets.
  • French Tulips — long-stemmed, up to 70 cm. Maureen (white), Menton (soft pink). For wedding floristry.
  • Parrot — with feathered, "torn" petals. Rococo (red), Blue Parrot (purple). For expressive arrangements.
  • Double / Peony — double "peony-flowered" types. Mount Tacoma (white), Foxtrot (pink). An alternative to peonies while those are out of season.
  • Queen of Night — almost black, a deep purple. For a dark, vintage palette.

Season and occasions

The tulip's natural season here is spring, from March to May, and the main demand falls in those weeks. 8 March opens the season, and the climax is Navruz on 21 March: a spring holiday for which the tulip has become an almost obligatory flower. Spring weddings hold demand to the end of May.

The tulip is given singly less often than roses — formats of 15, 25, and 51 stems are more typical. They're ordered in any quantity, with no strict odd-number rule.

A tulip's quirk: it keeps growing

A cut tulip stays a living plant — the stem stretches another 2–3 cm in the vase over the first few days. It's a rare trait among cut flowers, and it's taken into account when an arrangement is built.

Because of this, tulips reshape the bouquet every day and by the end of the week bend toward the light — that's normal, not a defect. To keep an even shape, stand the bouquet in a tall, narrow vase that holds the stems upright.

"The tulip is the most honest flower on sale. A fresh stem is firm and cool in the hand. In Tashkent the main task is to deliver the bud closed: demand around Navruz is huge, and what matters is not only the looks but that the flower opens at home."

Freshness and logistics

The tulips in the catalogue are mainly of Dutch breeding, plus greenhouse cut on a short haul in season. Tulips arrive in closed buds, ripening at the recipient's home — standard practice that extends freshness.

We transport tulips in cold hydro-boxes: the stems stay in water at +6…+8°C and the bud keeps its firmness. In summer, in the dry heat, we add an insulated box so the flower doesn't flag on the road; in winter the same box protects the bud from freezing in the cold. Until assembly, bouquets are kept in cold storage at +4…+6°C.

Delivery specifics in Tashkent

Tashkent lies in the valley of the Chirchik River, at the foot of the Western Tian Shan, at an altitude of about 450 m, with a sharply continental climate. Summer is hot and dry, +35–40°C, rising to +42°C in heat waves. Winter is cool, around 0 to −5°C, dropping to −10 to −15°C in cold spells. Spring is short and warms fast, so the tulip season is concentrated and delivery timing matters.

We deliver across all districts of Tashkent: Yunusabad, Mirzo Ulugbek, Chilanzar, Yakkasaray, Mirabad, Shaykhantakhur, Almazar, Sergeli, and Yashnabad. We take corporate orders for offices, restaurants, and hotels through the season. Prices in the catalogue are in Uzbek so'm (UZS). For 8 March and Navruz, book 3–5 days ahead — on peak days demand for tulips rises noticeably.

Care at home

The tulip is handled differently from roses and peonies. The main rules: only cold water at +6…+10°C, refreshing the cut with a straight (not angled) knife every 2 days, and minimal water in the vase (5–7 cm from the bottom). The tulip can't take deep water — the stems rot.

Don't place tulips next to narcissi and hyacinths — their sap speeds the bud's ageing. On dry, hot days keep the bouquet in the coolest room, away from the direct flow of the air conditioner, and move it to the refrigerator overnight to slow the opening. A cool +15…+18°C extends a tulip's life to 8–10 days.
