Roses in glass dome in Karlovy Vary: one preserved bud or three
Roses in glass dome in Karlovy Vary follow a 1994 patent that keeps the stem under the bud shorter than five centimetres, ideally about one centimetre, so the preserving solution has the shortest path to the flower. The grid holds a single dome rose in five colours and a trio of domes in two, so the choice starts with colour and count.
Red, powder pink or blue: choosing a dome rose
A dome rose is a real flower, cut at the moment it opened. Its sap is replaced with a glycerine-based solution that keeps the petal soft and pliable, unlike brittle dried flowers. Dye goes into that same solution, which is why blue and purple buds sit alongside red and white ones. The single dome comes in red, powder pink, white, purple and blue; the three-rose dome comes in red and powder pink. Whatever stage the rose was cut at is the stage it stays in. A photo of it goes to the buyer before the courier leaves.
How long a preserved rose lasts and how to keep it
A preserved rose lasts one to three years with care; sellers say one kept under glass leans toward the longer end. Keep it indoors, away from direct sunlight, since the dye fades in strong light. It needs no water or misting, and stays away from splashes, damp rooms and heat. Dust is best lifted with a soft dry brush or a can of compressed air.
Buyers who want live stems can look at fresh roses, while a drier option sits among the dried flowers. Dispatch timing for any order shows on the delivery page.
