For a Colleague in Rio de Janeiro

Flowers for a colleague in Rio de Janeiro: what suits a desk and how it gets there

Sending flowers for a colleague in Rio de Janeiro to the office takes two details a home address doesn't: the company name and the floor. Where the building runs a pass system, the bouquet goes through reception, and the sender is told who took it. Since the flowers will sit on a desk, it helps to choose them with that in mind — the section runs from lavender spray roses to a giant mixed basket with lilies.

What to give a colleague: flowers that suit a desk

A single-palette monobouquet suits a desk best. The lavender line covers that brief on its own: lavender spray roses, peony-style lavender roses and the bouquet called Lavender Smoothie all keep to one colour.

Vase life varies by flower. Dianthus, the carnation, and alstroemeria both last two to three weeks, a rose about a week and sometimes closer to ten days.

Lilies need one warning first: their pollen stains fabric badly, so growers remove the anthers once a flower opens, and any pollen already on cloth lifts off with sticky tape rather than a rub. Every part of a lily, including the pollen and vase water, is toxic to cats, so a colleague heading home to one is better off with a different flower.

A compact monobouquet fits a gift from one person: easy to carry in and doesn't crowd a desk. A gift from a whole team tends to run larger — mixed roses in a box, lilies in a basket or the giant mixed basket suit several names on one card.

A basket stands without a vase: stems sit in wet floral foam, watered daily in a thin stream and never tilted once filled. An ordinary bouquet needs the usual care instead — an angled cut, no leaves underwater, fresh water every day or two, and a spot away from radiators, sun and fruit.

Chocolate, a card or a small toy can travel in the same order basket with either format. The section sits under Token of Gratitude for a reason: whatever the format, it's a thank-you bouquet first.

Flower delivery for a colleague in Rio de Janeiro: office, reception, card

The card is written free of charge, and signing it is optional — it can go out anonymous just as easily. The courier is told only the recipient's name and address; the sender's contact details never reach them.

Nobody calls the recipient ahead of time unless the sender asks for it. The one exception is a building nobody can enter without ringing first, where the courier calls from the door instead.

Before the courier leaves, the sender gets a photo of the bouquet and can still request a change. Orders for a set date and time work in any zone, and booking early leaves more slots open. Most orders go out the same day they're placed; the exact time frame for a bouquet shows on its delivery page. Several bouquets to different addresses can share one order basket, with delivery worked out separately for each.

A good starting point when picking flowers for a colleague in Rio de Janeiro is the palette. Monobouquets suit a gift from one person, while flowers in boxes or flower baskets fit something from a whole team, either travelling with gifts to go with the bouquet from the same basket.
