Pink peonies in Stockholm: the 1906 variety behind the colour
Pink peonies in Stockholm are represented by the best-known pink cut peony, Sarah Bernhardt, bred by Lemoine in 1906: a very large double bloom, dark pink with a paler edge. The head is so heavy it bends the stem in the garden without support, yet the same bloom is one of the best peonies for cutting.
Sarah Bernhardt and the pink peony bunch
In the trade, Sarah Bernhardt is often confused with similar pink cultivars, and the grid here names no variety at all, so this is a pink peony rather than a named cultivar. The choice comes down to scale: a bunch of 35 stems or 51. Only the larger one names its colour in the title; the smaller bunch carries no colour promise, so its tone is worth checking rather than assumed. Every bouquet is photographed before the courier leaves, and a change to the tone can still be requested at that point. Where a particular bloom is out of stock, the florist substitutes one close in shade and price, and the replacement shows in the same photo. Each bunch is put together to order, with the stems bought only after payment clears.
A cut peony lasts five to seven days in water with care: change the water daily, recut the stems, and keep the vase somewhere cool, away from sunlight, heat and fruit. Other shades and sizes sit in all peonies, and a single variety on its own is among the mono bouquets. The slot for either shows on the bouquet's own page; see delivery for how it works.
