40 cm in Tbilisi: short-stem roses from Kenya and French-style bouquets

The 40 cm in Tbilisi grid includes 35 Kenyan Roses, grown by Lake Naivasha at around 1,880 metres. Roses from there usually have shorter stems than Ecuadorian ones, so here the choice comes down to stem count and finish.

What a 40 cm stem tells you about the rose

Ecuadorian roses grow high in the Andes, around 2,800 to 3,000 metres, and their longest stems run from 70 centimetres to a metre or more. Kenyan roses, grown lower near Lake Naivasha, tend to come shorter. A 40 cm stem sits at the short end of that range, which is simply how these roses grow.

Choosing a short-stem bouquet and ordering it

Most names in this section point to stem count, running from seven to fifty-one. The Red French Roses bouquet gets its name from a florist's technique, not a variety: the outer petals are turned back by hand, a look called reflexing. The Mandala Roses bouquet is named the same simple way, by number and rose. A rose usually lasts about a week in a vase, sometimes closer to ten days, if the stem is recut at an angle and the water is changed every day or two. Every bouquet here is made to order, and a photo goes to the sender before the courier leaves, so changes can still be made.

For roses in every length and variety, the fuller range sits one level up. A bouquet built from a single flower type is covered under mono bouquets, and delivery terms are on the delivery page.
