Red baskets in Sao Paulo: red roses only, and how long they last
Red baskets in Sao Paulo hold red roses only, and a basket arrangement ages as a whole, its life set by its shortest-lived flower, so the whole basket lasts about as long as a single rose: around a week, sometimes up to ten days. Since the flower and the colour are fixed, the choice comes down to scale or finish. The stem count sets the size, from 101 Red Roses in a Basket up to 501 Red Roses in a Basket. Red French Roses in a Basket gets its name from a finish rather than a variety: the florist turns the outer petals back by hand.
How long a red rose basket lasts and how to keep it
Woven baskets don't hold water on their own, so a waterproof liner goes in first and the stems sit in soaked floral foam, the usual way any basket arrangement is put together. Watered daily, that foam keeps the flowers going for roughly as long as a vase would; once it dries out, it barely takes water back. Water it every day with a light stream over the whole exposed surface, without tilting the basket, and keep it away from radiators, direct sun and ripe fruit. A vase isn't needed: the basket stands on its own.
A photo of the finished basket goes out before the courier leaves, so any changes can still be asked for at that point. The card is free and can stay unsigned, and without an address the recipient's phone number is enough. The delivery time shows on the bouquet's page. For other shades and shapes there are other flower baskets, for the same flower loose rather than in a basket there are red roses in a bouquet, and zones and timing are on delivery.
