Tulips with delivery in Singapore: varieties, Dutch supply, and spring under the Gardens by the Bay dome

In the tropics the tulip is a guest, not a local. Singapore has no spring in the usual sense, so the flower reads as a small exotic wonder — bright, graphic, with clean colour. Once a year the city throws it a festival: the Tulipmania display under the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay shows tens of thousands of bulbs, and many people come to us for tulips right after seeing it. We built the catalogue for those who value a fresh flower that feels unexpected in the heat.

The category covers single-variety bouquets from 11 to 51 stems, mixed arrangements, and gift boxes with tulips and companion flowers — ranunculus, freesia, hypericum. Since every tulip is imported, timing matters: we plan delivery to the date and keep the cold chain to the door.

Which varieties to choose

The tulips in our catalogue are of Dutch origin. We select varieties that combine stem strength, long vase life, and clean colour — especially important after a flight across half the world and in a hot climate.

  • Strong Gold — golden-yellow, a classic tulip on a tall, even stem. Pairs well with white and fresh-green spring compositions.
  • Red Impression — deep red, large bud, very sturdy stem. Suits large single-variety bouquets and is in demand for Chinese New Year.
  • White Dreamland — clean white, slightly matte. Neutral and elegant, good in mixed bouquets.
  • Purple Flag — rich purple. For those after a colour beyond the red-yellow-white palette.
  • Double Price — double purple-lilac, peony-like in form. A striking choice for modern interiors.
  • Foxtrot — double soft pink, full bud. Good in romantic arrangements and gifts.

Occasions and seasonality

In Singapore the tulip isn't tied to one "own" day the way 8 March is in Europe — it sells year-round as a stylish, slightly unusual gift. Notable spikes come with Chinese New Year (reds and yellows — the colours of luck and prosperity), Valentine's Day, and Mother's Day.

Tulips are often chosen to style offices and restaurants in the CBD, for just-because gifts, and as part of mixed bouquets. They're given as single stems less often than roses — bunches of 15, 25, and 51 are more typical. Multi-colour armfuls read more vividly than a single tone and work well in the bright interiors of Marina Bay and Orchard Road.

Freshness and logistics

Tulips arrive in Singapore by air from the Aalsmeer and Royal FloraHolland auctions through the cargo hub at Changi Airport (SIN) — in closed buds and deeply chilled. Maturing happens at the recipient's end: standard practice that extends freshness. Until assembly we hold the flowers in cold storage at +2…+4°C.

A key point for Singapore's climate: in warmth, tulips open noticeably faster. For an event, take delivery the evening before rather than the morning of, and keep the bouquet under air-conditioning. That way the buds open right on cue, not early.

"The tulip is the most temperature-sensitive flower we handle, and in Singapore it's a double challenge: it flies thousands of kilometres to reach us, then meets heat and humidity. The advice is simple — keep tulips under the air-con and out of the sun by a window. For big orders, take delivery the day before the event, not the day of."

Delivery specifics in Singapore

Singapore lies almost on the equator, hot and humid all year: daytime +31–33°C, nights +25–26°C, humidity 70–90%. There are no clear seasons, but two monsoons — the northeast (December–March) and the southwest (June–September), both with frequent thunderstorms. For a tulip used to a cool spring this is a real strain, so we keep the whole journey from airport to door cold.

We deliver tulips across all parts of Singapore: Orchard, Marina Bay, Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar, Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam, Tiong Bahru, Holland Village, Bukit Timah, Katong, Sentosa, Bishan, Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Tampines, Jurong, Woodlands, Punggol, Sengkang. We take corporate orders for offices, restaurants, and hotels. Payment is in Singapore dollars (S$, SGD). For Chinese New Year and Valentine's, book 3–5 days ahead.

Care at home

Tulips keep growing in the vase — a quirk of theirs: stems stretch 3–5 cm after going into water. Cut at a 45° angle, remove the lower leaves, and change the water daily — in the tropics it spoils fast, and tulips are very sensitive to bacteria. Cool water and an air-conditioned room at +18°C extend their life to 7–9 days.

Don't add anything extra to the water — aspirin and a copper coin work worse than clean, cool water changed regularly. In Singapore's heat, keep tulips away from direct sun and the hot air by an open window; at night you can move the bouquet closer to a cooler air-con flow to slow the opening.
