May 9 worldwide: odd stems for the living, even ones for memory

Every stem count named in the May 9 worldwide grid is odd, from 5 Pink Chrysanthemums to 51 Jumilia in Airy Wrapping. In Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and most former Soviet countries odd numbers go to the living and even ones are brought in memory, so the choice starts with who the flowers are for. Once that's settled, the grid itself splits into single-flower bunches and mixed bouquets, each with its own life in a vase.

What the May 9 grid holds and how long it lasts

This section mixes single-flower bunches with mixed arrangements. Lilies, lavender spray roses, peony-shaped roses, jumilia and dianthus each appear as their own bouquet, alongside chrysanthemums on their own stem. The mixed side brings several flowers into one bunch: "Blue Field", "Dark Silence", the rose-and-dianthus "Blash", and the Bigudi Chrysanthemum and Delphinium Bouquet among them.

How long a bouquet lasts depends on what is in it. Chrysanthemums and carnations hold for two to three weeks, a rose keeps for about a week, and jumilia, given good care, can stretch to two weeks. Lilies need a separate word of caution: every part of the flower, including its pollen and the water left standing in the vase, is toxic to cats, which rules 15 Lilies out for a home where a cat lives.

The rule behind an odd or even count belongs to a specific region: it holds in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and most other former Soviet countries. Outside that tradition a dozen is simply an ordinary number to give, with no meaning attached to it either way.

Every number printed in this grid's names is odd, which marks the whole selection as bouquets meant for a living person. A memorial calls for the opposite count, and the fastest way there is to describe the occasion in a chat with the florist before paying: the manager sends back a few options with photos and prices to choose from. What isn't on offer is a promise to simply change the stem count on one of the bouquets already shown.

May 9 flowers delivery to an older relative

Delivery to an older relative works the same as any other order, with a few details worth knowing in advance. The courier rings ahead only if the sender has asked for that; otherwise the visit comes as a surprise, which suits a gift more than a warning does. Where there's no fixed address to give, a phone number for the recipient is enough on its own.

The card that goes with the bouquet costs nothing extra, and the sender decides whether to sign it or send it without a name. Before the courier sets off, a photo of the finished bouquet goes to the sender's phone, and anything that needs adjusting can still be fixed at that point. Orders for a set date and time reach any zone, and booking early simply leaves more time slots open to pick from. The exact timing for a chosen bouquet is shown on its own page, and the delivery page covers how zones and slots work.

A good place to start is the shelf of mono bouquets built around a single flower and a clear count, or the roses list if the recipient prefers roses on their own. Either way, a signed or anonymous card and a few gifts to go with the bouquet round off the order without touching the stem count itself.
