Wrapped bouquets worldwide: stems in a spiral, tied with ribbon
Wrapped bouquets worldwide are built with a spiral hand-tie: every stem is laid at a slight angle to the last, always the same way, until the stems cross about a palm below the heads. That is where the florist ties them, with ribbon, twine or tape, and a well-built bouquet stands on the table by itself. Most of what's in the grid is named for that ribbon, so the real choice is the flower and the stem count, not the wrapping.
Roses, gladioli or lilies: choosing a ribbon-tied bouquet
The grid runs from red roses tied in fifteens and thirty-fives to a hundred and one tall white roses, nineteen white gladioli, a lisianthus bunch, a thirty-five-stem armful of peonies and a bunch of fifteen lilies. Each bouquet is put together to order, and a photo goes to the sender before the courier leaves, so a stem or a colour can still be changed at that point.
Lilies are worth a pause if the address has a cat: every part of the plant, including the pollen and the water in the vase, is toxic to cats, so lilies aren't the safe choice for that home.
Once a bouquet arrives, cut the stems on an angle with a sharp knife and strip any leaves that would sit below the waterline. Change the water every day or two, and keep the vase away from radiators, direct sun and ripe fruit.
Roses and peonies are the two places to start, and the exact delivery slot for each bouquet shows on its own page; zones and timing are on the delivery page.
