Hydrangea baskets worldwide: a 'water vessel' flower in floral foam
Hydrangea means 'water vessel' in Greek — Linnaeus named it in 1753 for its seed capsules, not its thirst. That thirst is real: hydrangea drinks more than most flowers and even takes in water through its petals, so hydrangea baskets worldwide sit in soaked floral foam, not a vase.
Hydrangea alone or mixed: choosing the basket
Large-headed hydrangeas need only a few stems to look full. Seven heads already read as a complete basket, as in 7 Hydrangeas in a Basket, though the number is a guide, not a rule. Premium Basket of Hydrangeas and Peonies adds peonies; Giant Mixed Basket with Lilies adds lilies, whose pollen and water are toxic to cats, so cat owners should choose hydrangea alone. The whole arrangement ages together, set by whichever flower fades first.
Keeping a hydrangea basket watered
Woven walls do not hold water, so a waterproof liner lines the basket and the stems sit in floral foam. Water the whole surface daily with a thin stream, without tilting it. Dried-out foam barely absorbs water again, and hydrangea needs more than most flowers, kept away from radiators, direct sun and ripe fruit.
Hydrangea baskets worldwide are made to order, with flowers bought once payment clears. A photo arrives before the courier leaves, the moment to request changes. Delivery time appears on the bouquet's page, with more on the delivery page — or browse the full range of flower baskets.
