Baskets with hydrangea in Bali: the one arrangement that needs its owner
Most of what we build is designed to survive being ignored. This is the exception. The block holds a finite amount of water, hydrangea empties it faster than anything else on the bench, and the arrangement therefore belongs to somebody who is actually at the address.

Who it suits
Somebody at home is the ideal case, and there are more of them here than the holiday picture suggests: long stay villas in Seminyak, Canggu and Berawa, houses in Sanur and Ubud, an office where the same person sits at the same desk every day. In all of those, the arrangement gets seen, watered and enjoyed by the same person, which is exactly what it is built for.
For a recipient who travels, or who will be away for the weekend after the delivery, a hardier composition is the more honest recommendation. Orchids and tropical foliage carry a basket through several unattended days without complaint, and we will happily build one with hydrangea as an accent rather than as the body of the work.
Three questions settle it before anything gets cut:
- Whether somebody sleeps at the address every night that week.
- Whether the room is air conditioned all day or open to the air.
- Whether the basket has to look its best on the delivery day or three days later.
The second question matters more on this island than the third. An open terrace in the humid air here is a gentler place for a hydrangea head than a cooled bedroom, since the flower takes moisture through the whole surface of the head as well as through the stem, and cool dry air pulls at it from every direction at once.
There is a middle option worth naming, because most orders end up there anyway. A basket carrying a small number of hydrangea heads with everything else chosen for stamina behaves like a hardy arrangement for most of the week and still reads as a hydrangea basket from the doorway, which is usually what the sender wanted in the first place.
Villas between guests are the case we get asked about most. If the arrangement has to be standing in the room before anybody arrives, we deliver it soaked to the limit and build it slightly tighter, and we say plainly that a hydrangea basket waiting alone for two days is a compromise rather than a plan.
For everyone else the appeal is straightforward enough. One head does the work of several roses, the arrangement fills a table without towering over it, and nothing about it asks for a vase, scissors or a free hour on the evening it arrives. Macrophylla hydrangea is the variety these baskets are built from here, imported roses at 60 to 90 cm sit underneath as solid colour, and ranunculus and lisianthus add detail that reads from a chair.
Deliveries reach Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur in 90 to 150 minutes, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and the remote villas take up to 3 to 4 hours. Above 30 °C we wrap firmly and pack a cooling element. We work 9 AM to 10 PM, orders start from 650000 IDR, and payment goes through QRIS, GoPay, OVO, DANA or cash to the courier.
The afterlife
There is an afterlife worth knowing about, and it changes who this gift suits. Stop watering at the end, leave the basket where it stands, and the heads lose moisture slowly enough to hold their shape while the colour drifts towards dusty beige or grey green. Out of direct sun that version keeps for months, which turns a demanding fortnight into something a household keeps, and it is the argument that persuades most people who were wavering.
