Flower baskets by colour in Bali: light and moving air run the clock
Ultraviolet breaks pigment down, and the strong colours pay for it soonest. Red and purple turn brownish on a sunlit terrace table well before a cream arrangement looks tired, and on this island a table is often only half indoors to begin with. A spot out of the sun buys a scheme several days of looking the way it was ordered.
Moving air costs more than most people expect. A cooling unit pulls moisture off the surface of the foam quickly, and thirsty stems lose colour before they lose shape, so a basket parked under a vent fades from the top down while the water underneath still looks fine.
Three things decide how long a scheme holds:
- Position, out of direct sun and out of the airflow.
- A daily top-up at the rim, until the foam stops taking water.
- Spent heads lifted out as they go, before the colour beside them starts to look tired as well.
Orders start at 650000 IDR, and payment goes through QRIS, GoPay, OVO, DANA or cash to the courier. The working day runs 9 AM to 10 PM.
"The colour question we get asked is which flowers. The one that decides the answer is which window, because the room settles it long before the flowers do."

The weave belongs to the palette
Natural willow carries a warm reddish tone, and nothing takes it out of the picture. Cream, peach, coral and terracotta pick that tone up and look settled against it. Cool shades do the opposite: lilac, blue and clean white are read against a warm neighbour and lose some of their clarity, which is why they are usually set into a whitened, grey or painted frame.
Greenery counts as a colour as well, and there is more of it in a basket than in a bouquet of the same size, because it holds the frame of the arrangement.

Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur sit in a 90 to 150 minute window, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and the remote villas run up to 3 to 4 hours. Above 30 °C in high humidity we close the packing more firmly and add a cooling element, all of which comes off on arrival. In the rainy season from November to March we add route time.
An ocean villa and a wedding venue in Jimbaran are the two places where light does the most damage to a scheme, since both stay open to it for most of the day. An Ubud dinner and a resort address in Seminyak or Canggu are gentler on colour, because the arrangement usually lives indoors. Hotels in Nusa Dua sit between the two, and The St. Regis Bali Resort, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, The Legian Seminyak and Alila Villas Uluwatu all place work according to how a room is lit rather than to how large it is.
Imported roses at 60 to 90 cm and Ecuadorian stems up to 120 cm carry the saturated end. Macrophylla hydrangea gives one large block of colour and stands in for several small stems at once. Lisianthus and ranunculus cover the cream and powdery part, seasonal peonies take the warm middle, orchids sit at the top of the build, and tropical foliage closes the rim.
Flower baskets by colour in Bali hold their scheme for as long as the room allows, which is why the brief we want is the direction the terrace faces and whether there is a vent above the table. A pale scheme in a bright room gets planted differently from a deep one, and that choice is made before anything is cut.
