### A bouquet from your photo in Bali: which differences are normal Openness is the first thing that will not match, and it accounts for most of the questions we get. Reference photographs are nearly always taken on the bouquet's best day, two or three days in, with the buds half open. A freshly built bouquet looks tighter and quieter for exactly the right reason. Stem counts move as well. If the heads that arrived are smaller than the ones in your image, the volume gets made up in numbers, so the finished piece does not read thinner than what you asked for. > "Nobody photographs a bouquet on the day it was made. Substitution is the third normal difference. A rose becomes another rose in the same tone, lisianthus becomes ranunculus of a similar shade, one textural green stands in for another, and we say which swaps are coming before assembly rather than afterwards. Wrapping is the fourth. Humidity here softens paper within a couple of hours, so a glossy film or a light collar from a reference picture is often replaced with firmer material, and we say so before we build rather than after. Colour on a screen is worth one extra sentence at the order stage. A warm filter turns pale pink into peach and an evening kitchen light pushes cream towards yellow, so describing the shade in words alongside the picture removes most of the guesswork. What should not differ is the shape, the scale and the palette. Those three are settled before anything is cut, and if the week's supply will not allow them, you hear about it in advance. #### What the week actually brings Imported roses come in at 60 to 90 cm and Ecuadorian stems reach 120 cm, which covers most of what people send us. Macrophylla hydrangea, lisianthus and ranunculus carry the softer palettes, orchids and tropical foliage do the textural work, and seasonal peonies appear for a few months and then do not. Colour drifts inside a single named variety too. Growing temperature and the age of the crop move the tone by half a step, so two bouquets of the identical rose photographed in different months will not match each other. Three lines that make the match far closer: - A wide shot instead of a close-up of the heads. - The size as a stem count or a diameter. - What matters most in the image: shape, colour, or one particular flower. #### Timing across the island Two days ahead is the useful lead time, since it lets us buy a specific variety on the next delivery rather than building from the cooler. Same day works for anything led by shape and palette. Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur sit in a 90 to 150 minute window, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and remote villas take 3 to 4 hours. Kuta, Legian, Berawa, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua and Ubud fall between the two depending on the address, and we work 9 AM to 10 PM. Humidity is high all year, which cut stems tolerate well. Above 30 °C we switch to firm wrapping and pack a cooling element, so a bouquet built to a photograph is assembled close to departure rather than early in the morning. Ask for a photograph of the finished bouquet before the courier leaves, particularly if the flowers are going to a villa an hour or more away. While the bouquet is still on the bench the volume, the wrapping and the focal flower can all be changed.
