### Seasonal bouquets in Bali: what the format costs you The year here has two halves, drier from April to October and wet from November to March, and neither of them empties the buckets. What changes is how a bouquet behaves once it leaves the bench, and how much time the drive to it needs. Above 30 °C and in high humidity we wrap firmly and add a cooling element. Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur sit in a 90 to 150 minute window, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and the remote villas take up to 3 to 4 hours, and Kuta, Legian, Berawa, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua and Ubud fall between the two depending on the street. The rare one arrives looking like it has had a long day." > JFLOO florist #### The control you give up A seasonal brief hands the last decision to the workshop, and that is a genuine cost rather than a technicality. If a wedding party needs one exact shade to sit against one exact fabric, this is the wrong instrument and a named variety ordered in advance is the right one. A company palette that has to hold beside a logo is the same case. Precision and freshness pull against each other. The second thing you trade is a predictable shape across the year. The species list here stays fairly steady, so the variation shows up in density and in how quickly a build opens in a warm room rather than in whether the flowers exist at all. A bouquet sent in February and the same brief sent in July will look like relatives rather than twins. Three cases where a named variety beats a seasonal brief: - A fixed shade for a dress, a table setting or a brand. - A recipient who has one flower they always ask for. - A date that cannot move, where a delayed shipment would leave nothing acceptable in its place. #### What comes back the other way Volume, for one thing. The same money buys noticeably more when the flowers are the ones that came in strong that week, because nothing in the price is paying for a long journey or for holding a rare stem in storage until somebody orders it. Vase life follows the same logic. A stem that has spent less time chilled and rewarmed holds its shape into the third and fourth day, which on a villa terrace in the wet season is the difference between a bouquet that lasts the trip and one that does not. Imported roses at 60 to 90 cm and Ecuadorian stems reaching 120 cm anchor most of these builds. Lisianthus and ranunculus fill the half tones, macrophylla hydrangea supplies area, and orchids with tropical foliage hold the structure together. Seasonal peonies are the one real window, and when they are in we build the centre around them. Hotel addresses take this well. A villa in Ubud or Canggu works the same way, with the delivery window doing more to shape the build than the calendar month does.
