Potted plants by type worldwide: florariums sorted by glass and succulent
Potted plants by type worldwide are all florariums: a succulent under glass, named twice, once for the glass shape and once for the plant inside. The shapes are cube, truncated cube, droplet, icosahedron and dodecahedron, and the plants are stone rose, sedum, haworthia, Hobbit and Hobbit jade. Choosing by type here means choosing the glass first, since its silhouette has to suit a shelf or a table, and then the succulent that sits inside it.
A succulent is a plant with thick, fleshy parts that store water for dry spells; in some of these parts, water can make up as much as nine tenths of the weight. Succulents come from hot places with rare rainfall, and roughly a third of all species grow in southern Africa.
Caring for a succulent under glass
Succulents and cacti generally suit an open bowl better than a closed terrarium. A closed florarium keeps its own water cycle instead: moisture settles on the glass walls and trickles back down, which suits moisture-loving plants such as moss and ferns. Either way, a florarium is watered with a mister, and a closed one is due for water again once the condensation on its walls has cleared.
A florarium can be added to a bouquet order, listed under bouquets, or chosen on its own from gifts to go with bouquets. A card with a message is free, and the courier sends a photo before setting off, so the recipient's phone number is enough for the order, no address required. Delivery is free in the centre of town; see delivery for details.
