Flowers for yourself worldwide: a bouquet you keep and look after

Flowers for yourself worldwide include the Cream Hydrangea Bouquet, where a drooping head is revived by an hour or two in cool water, never longer than four or five hours. Hydrangea drinks more than most flowers and takes water in through its petals as well as its stem. A bouquet bought for yourself gets chosen by two questions, what you like and how long it lasts, not by an occasion.

What the grid offers when the bouquet is yours

Monobouquets built from a single flower sit at the centre of the range: 15 Lilies, 15 Dianthus, 13 Mixed Alstroemeria and 5 Pink Chrysanthemums. Anyone who wants one flower and nothing else can pick a monobouquet and stop there.

A lavender line runs alongside it: 11 and 25 Lavender Spray Roses, 15 Peony Lavender Roses and the Lavender Smoothie mix. The peony-shaped roses in that line are usually David Austin varieties, or bred to look like them.

The Bunch of 35 Peonies follows its own calendar. Cut peonies come from the Netherlands, France, Germany and the UK from late April to June, and outside that window the flower is flown in from further away, so it reaches the catalogue for most of the year, though not every month of it.

Where one flower is not enough, mixed bouquets bring several together: Lily and Gerbera, Peony Lily Bouquet No. 2 and Blue Field.

Bought for yourself, the bouquet stays on your own table, within reach every day.

Vase life varies more between flowers than between bouquets. Chrysanthemum, dianthus and alstroemeria hold for two to three weeks, a rose for about a week and sometimes up to ten days, and a well-kept peony for five to seven days.

Jumilia lasts up to two weeks with good care: the bud reaches about seven centimetres, with a white base and a pink edge, and 51 Jumilia in Airy Wrapping is built from nothing else. One thing to expect from chrysanthemums specifically: the leaves turn yellow before the flower does, and the fix is simply to strip them off.

Looking after the bouquet at home

Hydrangea needs more frequent watering than the rest of the bouquet, since it drinks faster than most cut flowers; topping up the vase daily keeps a head from drooping in the first place.

Lilies ask for different care. Once a flower opens, lift the anthers out with tweezers or fingers before the pollen spreads; a fresh stain on fabric lifts off with sticky tape rather than rubbing, which only pushes it in further. Lilies are not a flower to keep in a house with a cat: every part is toxic to cats, including the pollen and the water left standing in the vase.

The rest of the bouquet follows the usual routine: cut the stems at an angle with a sharp knife and strip any leaf that would sit under water. Change the water every day or two, and keep the vase away from radiators, direct sun and a bowl of ripe fruit.

Flowers for yourself delivery to your own door

Ordering flowers for yourself worldwide needs no account: a name and a phone number are enough. A photo of the finished bouquet goes to that number before the courier sets off, followed by a message once it has been handed over.

If the photo shows something worth changing, say so before the courier leaves. Payment runs through Visa or Mastercard, and the total shown in the cart is the one charged.

A date and time can be booked for any zone worldwide, and most orders go out the same day they are placed; the exact timing for a given bouquet is shown on its own page. Delivery to the centre costs nothing, and the delivery page sets out the rest.

Deciding where to start is straightforward. A single favourite flower points to a monobouquet, a peony bouquet makes sense only while peonies are in season, and a flower subscription suits anyone who wants a bouquet on the table without placing a new order each time.
