What a bouquet topper says, and who it speaks to

The toppers sit inside the Gifts to Go With Bouquets section, so a topper is bought alongside a bouquet rather than on its own. Ten of them are in the grid, and their names fall into two camps. Happy Birthday names two separate toppers in the grid, listed as "Happy Birthday" Topper and Topper "Happy Birthday"; nothing beyond that word order in the name marks them apart. Happy Anniversary suits a wedding anniversary at any point along the years, and German-speaking lands have marked the silver, twenty-fifth, and golden, fiftieth, anniversaries by name since the sixteenth century. Happy New Year points to a different calendar. In Russia and other post-Soviet countries the New Year, kept from 31 December to 1 January, is the main winter holiday and the one gifts go with. The Western Christmas falls earlier, on 25 December.

Toppers for Mum, Grandma and the one you love

For Mom No. 2, For My Beloved Mom No. 2, For My Beloved Grandma, For My Beloved and Best Girl in the World all name a recipient rather than a date. That suits a bouquet sent for no particular occasion at all. Mother's Day, though, is the one occasion where the date itself moves from country to country. The United States, Germany and more than forty other countries keep it on the second Sunday of May. The UK keeps Mothering Sunday instead, the fourth Sunday of Lent, and Russia marks it on the last Sunday of November. Topper, card and delivery: how the words reach them
