Alstroemeria baskets worldwide: a flower named after a pupil of Linnaeus
Alstroemeria baskets worldwide are named after Clas Alströmer, a pupil of Linnaeus. Positions here are labelled by stem count, by colour, by name or by wrapping, so pick whichever matters most to you.
Choosing by stem count, colour or name
Some names give the stem count and colour, such as 13 Mixed Alstroemeria or 11 White Alstroemeria. Others use colour alone, a mix number or a name, such as Alstroemeria Mix No. 5 or "Wonder", while Alstroemeria Bouquet in Kraft Paper arrives wrapped rather than set in a basket. Florists treat alstroemeria as a mass flower that gives an arrangement its bulk and centre. The florist photographs the piece before the courier leaves, so changes are made from that photo, and a card with your own text is free.
How long alstroemeria lasts, and how to water it
Cut alstroemeria holds well in a vase, typically two to three weeks, though that is vase life, not a guarantee on any stem. It is greenhouse-grown, like chrysanthemum, carnation and lily, so it is sold all year round. Floral foam keeps a basket going about as long as a vase, if watered daily in a thin stream over its surface without tipping; dried-out foam barely takes water again. In a mixed basket, the shortest-lived flower sets the limit for the whole arrangement.
The delivery slot shows on the bouquet's page, and most orders go out the same day; see delivery for detail, or browse flower baskets and mono bouquets.
