Baskets with peonies worldwide: stem counts, a mixed basket and care
Among the baskets with peonies worldwide, only one names a second flower, the Premium Basket of Hydrangeas and Peonies. Hydrangea drinks more than other flowers, even through its petals, so a mixed basket ages as a whole. Choosing here comes down to stem count and whether the peonies stand alone.
From 15 stems to 555: choosing a peony basket
Most baskets are named by stem count: 15 Peonies in a Basket, 29 Peonies in Basket, 51 Peonies in Basket, Peony Basket "75" and the Basket of 555 Peonies. Maxi Basket Lollipop and Composition "Cherry" are named rather than counted.
The woven basket itself doesn't hold water, so each one gets a waterproof lining inside and stands without a vase. Every basket is made to order, and the florist sends a photo before the courier leaves.
Keeping a peony basket fresh at home
Inside, the stems sit in floral foam or a wire mesh. Water the foam daily in a thin stream over its whole surface, without tilting the basket, and it holds flowers about as long as a vase would. Dried-out foam barely takes up water again.
A peony cared for in a vase lasts five to seven days, and a basket follows the same rhythm. Keep it cool, away from direct sun, radiators and ripe fruit.
