### Bouquets in kraft paper in Dubai: where the material fails, and why people keep choosing it Water ruins kraft. The paper absorbs, swells, cockles along the wet line and never flattens again, so anything keeping the stems hydrated has to be sealed away from the wrap itself rather than tucked inside it. Creases are the other permanent damage. One sharp fold across a visible panel cannot be smoothed out, and no amount of careful handling afterwards restores the surface. Humid air is the slow version of the same problem. Kraft itself does not mind that at all, and the flowers underneath it very much do, so bouquets travel with insulated packing and go straight from the vehicle into the building without a stop on the way. The swing between an air conditioned lobby and the street is sharp in both directions. Paper handles it better than film, which collects condensation on the inside and puts water exactly where it should not be. Delivery takes 2 to 4 hours across Downtown, Marina, JBR, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah and DIFC, and we work 9 AM to 10 PM. Dubai runs on GMT+4, so give the hour of the handover in local time. Two checks settle that. Look straight down, where a dense bouquet holds an even dome with the heads closing against each other and no dark gaps into the middle. Then look from the side, where the collar should rise about a hand's width above the flowers and the build should have the same depth front and back. #### Why the format holds its place Matt paper reflects almost nothing, so the flowers keep the light and the wrap stays behind them. Film competes with the colour it is meant to present, and under strong sunlight through a window that difference is obvious. There is a tonal argument as well. Brown paper carries no ceremony with it, which makes a kraft bouquet easy to give without turning a small gesture into a formal occasion. Three occasions where something else suits better: - A stage presentation where the bouquet has to read from the back of a room. - A formal event with a large guest list. - Any handover where the flowers wait somewhere before reaching the recipient. Unwrap the bouquet fully at home rather than trimming the bottom of the paper and dropping the whole thing into a vase, since kraft draws water up the inside of the container and starts to rot against the stems within a couple of days.
