### Unusual bouquets in Dubai: read first, liked second An ordinary bouquet needs no explanation. Something built to an unfamiliar shape asks the recipient to work out what it is before deciding how they feel about it, and that second or two of hesitation is the whole risk of the format. Some people enjoy the hesitation. Others find it awkward and would rather have had roses. Which of those two you are dealing with is the only question that matters, and it has nothing to do with the flowers. #### Who tends to like them The reliable audience is people whose own surroundings are already deliberate. Anyone who chose their furniture carefully, works in design or architecture, keeps plants alive on purpose, or has firm views about what goes on a wall will read an unconventional arrangement as attention paid. For that recipient a round bouquet is the safe answer and the forgettable one, which is a trade nobody states out loud. The second reliable case is somebody who has had flowers from you before. Twenty roses cannot be given twice without the second time meaning less, whereas an arrangement built to a specific line is remembered as an object rather than as a gesture. A housewarming is the third, since the gift stays in the room long after the evening and gets judged as part of it. None of those three depend on taste in flowers. #### Where these go in this city The map for unusual work is narrower than for anything else we build, because these bouquets go to people rather than to occasions. - An apartment in Downtown or Marina, where the recipient has a vase they chose themselves and a shelf they had in mind before the flowers arrived. - An office in DIFC or Business Bay, which is the one address where we usually argue against the format, since a company gesture wants a message everybody reads the same way. - A villa or a suite on Palm Jumeirah, where ceiling height stops being a constraint and a vertical build finally makes sense. - A repeat order to somebody in JBR who has already had roses from you twice this year. Delivery runs 2 to 4 hours and we work 9 AM to 10 PM. Orders start from 250 AED, payment goes by Apple Pay or cash to the courier, and the city is on GMT+4. #### What we can build it from The unusual part comes from proportion more often than from anything exotic. Ecuadorian roses reaching 120 cm give a vertical build that Dutch stems at 60 to 90 cm cannot, and the same flower everybody knows stops looking familiar once the proportion changes. UAE greenhouse tulips and chrysanthemums go in as mass rather than as filler, which is not where either of them normally sits. Summer sets a limit on ambition. Air outside reaches 40 °C with humidity near the coast, an open structural arrangement has no wrapping to protect it, and we build those close to departure with insulated packing around the base.
