Blue bouquets in Dubai: one bouquet, several clocks
Vase life inside a single blue bunch is rarely even. Different flowers carrying the same tone run out at different times, which is why a bouquet of this colour often looks tired on one side and untouched on the other by the end of the week.
Nothing about the stems tells you that when they arrive.
Chrysanthemums from UAE greenhouses sit at the patient end. The head is dense, it holds its shape without dropping anything on the table, and it is usually still standing when the rest of the bunch has been thinned out twice. Roses are the middle of the range and behave predictably, Dutch stems at 60 to 90 cm and Ecuadorian ones up to 120 cm alike.
Tulips are the restless ones. They keep growing in the vase after they are cut, they lean towards whatever light is in the room, and the arrangement you photographed on the first evening is a different shape by the third. In a warm flat that happens faster still.
Peonies, when they are in, go furthest of anything here. A tight ball opens into something twice the size and then finishes quickly, so a bouquet built around them is worth ordering close to the date rather than early.

Air conditioning is the local factor that changes the arithmetic. Dry moving air over a desk pulls water out of the softest heads first, so an office bouquet built on the restless end of the range loses its shape faster here than the same bouquet would in a cooler, stiller room. For desks we lean on the patient material and let the fast flowers go to homes.
Summer air reaches 40 °C with high coastal humidity, so the box gets insulated packing and stays out of direct sun. That has a second purpose in this colour, because the blue in a cut flower is nearly always applied and applied colour fades on a bright windowsill sooner than a grown pigment does.
Stem length changes the clock as well, which surprises people. A tall Ecuadorian stem has further to move water than a short one, so in a hot flat it is the first to show a bent neck even though it cost the most in the order. For a home we usually put the long stems in a lobby or an entrance hall and keep the shorter build for a table.
Asking for one long-lasting element in the middle of the bunch is the simplest fix for the uneven week. When the fast heads come out, what is left still reads as a bouquet rather than as a handful of leftovers.
