Each stem goes into the bunch at the same angle so the heads sit at slightly different heights and face outwards, and that gives the round loose dome people expect. Bound flat, the flowers press together and the white discs merge into one pale smear at two paces. A florist spends longer on that than on anything else in the build. The arranging is meant to stay invisible. Three plants reach the counter under the same name, and they behave differently once they are home. The large single head on a firm stem is an ox-eye type, sold by the stem and used as an accent. The small clustered heads on branching stalks are feverfew, sold by the bunch and used as filler, and crushing a leaf gives a sharp herbal smell that not everyone wants on a kitchen table.
