### Dianthus bouquets in Dubai: built for a long delivery day Summer runs up to 40 °C, the coast adds humidity on top, and delivery takes 2 to 4 hours. Almost everything we pack is packed against those three numbers. Dianthus barely notices them. The heads are small and firm. Spray forms with small pastel or bicolour heads sit further from that reading than a single long-stemmed carnation does. In a city where the person opening the door grew up somewhere you may not know, the association is worth a thought before you build an entire bouquet from one flower. You keep the durability and lose the ambiguity, and the flower goes on doing the quiet work it is good at. #### How long it holds Dianthus outlasts almost everything packed with it. Two weeks is ordinary, and in a cool room with clean water it runs further, mostly because the cluster opens in sequence and there are always side buds still coming while the front head ages. Pull the spent heads out one at a time rather than replacing the bouquet, and the bunch holds its shape down to the last sprig. A flat kept cool all summer suits it better than the street outside ever will. Nothing else on the price list gives that much life for that little attention. #### What we build it with here Texture is the argument for putting it in at all. Dianthus petals are matte and finely cut, roses are smooth and reflective, and next to each other both look more like themselves. Against another matte ruffled flower the effect disappears and the two simply blur into one another. Dutch roses at 60 to 90 cm carry the front of a mixed bouquet and dianthus does the joinery between them. One stem can stay whole to hold a mass, or split into four or five short sprigs that go in one at a time. Greenhouse tulips and chrysanthemums from the UAE take the same water and the same vase, so a mixed build with any of them is straightforward. Ecuadorian roses up to 120 cm are the one pairing we usually talk people out of. The scale gap is too wide, and the small heads disappear underneath.
