New Year bouquets in Dubai: how much of it is actually flower

New Year bouquet of roses and chrysanthemums with gold detail in Dubai

One decision sets everything else, and it is the one people skip: how much of the bouquet is fresh flower and how much is decoration. Size and wrapping both follow from that ratio, and two bouquets at the same price can sit on opposite sides of it.

A bouquet weighted towards decoration is the quieter gift. It holds its shape for weeks and asks almost nothing of the person who receives it. From across a room it reads as seasonal without anyone having to look closely.

A bouquet weighted towards flowers is brighter on the first evening and finishes sooner. That is the right trade for a table people are sitting at that night, and the wrong one for a desk the recipient is about to leave for a fortnight.

Neither is better, and they fail differently. Past a certain density the decorative parts stop being accents and become the bouquet, and the flowers end up as small bright dots inside it. The usual signs are ornaments crowded around the centre, glitter coming off onto the wrapping while the courier carries it, and a spray painted element that leaves colour on a pale sleeve. Ask for the decoration to be spread through the outline instead of gathered at the front, and the bouquet will read from any side.

Flowers do the rest of the work, and each one behaves in its own way here. Dutch roses at 60 to 90 cm carry the middle of the range and take a firm tie without complaint. Ecuadorian roses up to 120 cm exist for length, so cutting them down for a compact festive bouquet wastes most of what you paid for. Greenhouse chrysanthemums from the UAE outlast everything else in the wrap and take warmth better than anything else we use in December. Dutch peonies come in outside their season and go in singly, because the head is heavy and the tie has to be set higher for it.

Tulips are the surprise in the box.

They keep growing after cutting, so a bouquet that left the workshop tight and even changes its own silhouette overnight. That is normal behaviour, and it only becomes a complaint when nobody mentioned it at the counter.

Where it is going

Apartments in Downtown, Business Bay, Marina and JBR are the straightforward half of December. The door opens, a vase appears, and the bouquet is in water within ten minutes. Villas on Palm Jumeirah add a walk from the gate, and in summer those minutes count for more than the packaging does.

Offices in DIFC work differently, since the handover happens in front of people and the bouquet then has to survive a floor with no vase on it. Say so when you order and we will build for that.

What helps us most in the order:

  • The district and the type of address.
  • The hour of the handover, not the day.
  • The name and number of whoever opens the door.
  • Whether the recipient travels on with the bouquet the same evening, because a bouquet that continues into a car is built lower and tighter than one that stays put.

Delivery takes 2 to 4 hours and we work 9 AM to 10 PM on GMT+4. Orders start from 250 AED, paid by Apple Pay or cash to the courier.

Summer reaches 40 °C here, with humidity along the coast. Festive bouquets go out in insulated packing and the box stays out of direct sun. The few minutes spent carrying an unwrapped bouquet across a car park cost more than the whole drive before it.

"December bouquets come back to me with one complaint, and it is never the flowers. Somebody left the wrapping on all evening in a warm room, and the middle of the bunch went first."

New Year bouquets in Dubai land inside a few crowded days, so the hour is worth fixing before the choice of flowers is. Tell us where the bouquet will be handed over and what happens to it in the hour afterwards, and the ratio of flower to decoration follows from that on its own.
