### Turquoise roses in Dubai: the wrap decides more than the shade does Most colours survive their packaging. This one does not. A turquoise rose wrapped in warm kraft loses much of its blue before it reaches a table, while the same stem against grey board keeps the colour it had on the bench. That matters more in a delivery city than it does in a shop. Nobody hands a bouquet over unwrapped, so paper is the first thing the recipient sees, and the flower gets read through it. #### Paper, film and ribbon Kraft suits nearly every rose grown. It sits under cream, peach, red and burgundy and makes all of them look warmer, which is why so many florists reach for it without thinking twice. Blue green is the exception, since a brown ground cancels exactly the part of the colour that was paid for. Grey card, white card and clear film leave the shade alone. Matte black pushes it forward, so a bunch in black reads colder and more deliberate than the same bunch in paper. Clear film is the safest default when nobody can tell us about the room. It adds nothing and hides nothing, and a turquoise bunch behind it is at least the colour it really is. The drawback is that film looks like a shop counter, so on a gift we usually run a grey band around it instead of leaving it bare. Gold ribbon undoes all of that. Beige twine does it more quietly. Keep the ribbon in the same cold family, or leave it off the order entirely. #### Where it is going, and what that changes Delivery across the city takes 2 to 4 hours, between 9 AM and 10 PM. Orders start from 250 AED, and payment goes through Apple Pay or cash to the courier. The question we ask before assembly is the type of address, because here the address usually decides the light. - A DIFC or Business Bay office. Cool ceiling light, so grey or white card and no ribbon, and the colour arrives the way it left. - A hotel room or lobby in Downtown or out on Palm Jumeirah. Warm light and warm surfaces, so matte black board to hold the shade up. - An apartment in Marina or JBR: ask which room the vase lives in before choosing the paper. - A shoot or an event built around a palette. Here the wrap is agreed together with the colour, well before anything is cut, since a mismatch costs more than a slightly different blue would. Summer adds one more constraint. We use insulated packing and keep the bouquet out of direct sun when it reaches 40 °C, and insulated packing is opaque, so nobody sees the colour until the wrapping comes off indoors. Photographs cover the gap. We send one taken on the bench under cool light. When the order has to match something, we describe what the same bunch does under a warm lamp, because that description is worth more than the picture. Business orders repeat, and repetition turns the wrap into a standard. When a company sends the same shade every month, we keep the board and the ribbon on file so the fifth delivery looks like the first one did. > "The paper gets chosen before the roses do.
