#### Three checks at the door
The courier is there for a minute, and that minute is worth using. - The skewer points do not push through the wrapping. - The bundle stands on a table without being propped against anything. - Nothing edible is loose in paper. It all arrives sealed. Anything found later is a conversation. Anything found at the door is fixed on the spot, and this is the one format where that difference is worth the pause. #### Where it earns its place
It goes to a group better than flowers do. A team on a floor in DIFC, a family arriving for a holiday, a shop counter at the end of a shift: one object turns up, several people end up holding a piece of it, and nobody has to find a vase or remember the water. It also answers repetition. Send cut stems to the same person twice and the third bouquet lands as a habit rather than a gesture, while this is a thing most people receive once, if at all. And it suits an occasion where flowers would sound heavier than you meant. A new flat, a first day at work, a colleague leaving on good terms. #### What you give up
Close up, the eye reads packaging rather than petals, and no arrangement of sweets smells of anything at all. Photographs of these builds flatter them, which is the opposite of what happens with roses. Somebody who was hoping for flowers works that out in the first second and is polite about it for the rest of the evening. The recipient also inherits a decision. Take it apart, share it, put half of it in the fridge, and do all of that on the evening it arrives rather than at leisure. For a household of several people that is part of the fun. For somebody living alone it can read as a small chore in a box. 
The last thing is the drive itself. The box travels upright with a rim around it and never flat, because side pressure moves the skewers and the frame goes with them, so for towers in Downtown, Business Bay or Palm Jumeirah we ask for a floor, an apartment number and a phone: nobody gets past the lobby without a call, and this is not a parcel that improves while it waits.
