Large flower baskets in Phuket: finding the thing a place to stand
Most descriptions of this format stop at the moment of delivery. The part that decides whether the gift was a good idea happens afterwards, because an arrangement this size does not sit quietly in a corner of somebody's week. It takes up floor, and floor is the one thing nobody has spare.
Wherever the courier sets it down is rarely where it stays. That first position is chosen in ten seconds by two people who are both being polite, and by the evening somebody has moved it. Deciding the spot before the delivery saves that, and it saves the arrangement from being carried twice, which is where the damage usually happens. A large basket does not enjoy being picked up.
Put it against something solid.
A wall, a pillar, the side of a cabinet: anything that stops a person walking past with a bag from catching it. Open floor in the middle of a room looks generous for about an hour. By the evening it is an obstacle everyone is stepping around, and it will not be there the following morning.
Height decides the rest
Large baskets sit low and spread wide, which is a different proposition from a tall vase and suits different rooms. They work beside seating, under a window, or in a hallway where anything tall would have been knocked over on the first day. What they do not suit is a room where people sit close together around one table, since a wide low object at floor level is exactly where feet go. Rooms that people cross are the right answer. Rooms that people occupy are not.
One thing to avoid is a direct stream of moving air. Foam gives up water through its whole open surface, and air moving across that surface takes it faster than the flowers do.
Which addresses take one
Villas in Bang Tao, Surin and Rawai are the natural home for this size, because the rooms are large enough that the arrangement reads properly and there is a wall to put it against. A restaurant by the sea takes one at the entrance rather than on a table. A hotel room almost never does, and we say so rather than take the order, since the guest will spend a week moving it. Phuket Town offices and shops are the other regular case, where the basket stands beside a doorway and gets seen by everyone who comes in.
Four things settle the address question:
- Where the arrangement will stand, described as a place rather than a room.
- Whether there is a solid surface behind it.
- Who will be there to show the courier that spot.
- Whether the last stretch to the door is stairs, a garden path or a lift, since a large basket is carried the whole way from underneath.
Along the west coast delivery runs 90 to 180 minutes, covering Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, Surin and Bang Tao alongside Phuket Town, Rawai and Chalong, with separate windows for villas, marinas and airport routes. We work 9 AM to 10 PM and orders start at 2200 THB. Payment goes by bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PromptPay, bank transfer or cash to the courier in baht.
From May to October we add route time for the rain, and on the hill roads in the evening we add more. A large basket travels upright and braced for all of it.
