Single-stem garden roses in Phuket: nine flowers means nine flowers

Nine single-stem garden roses spaced out during assembly in the Phuket workshop

A garden rose reaches the bench in one of two builds. A spray branch carries a cluster of small buds on a single stem, and a single-stem rose carries one large many-petalled head and nothing else. This category holds the second kind.

Order nine spray branches and whoever opens the box sees something nearer thirty blooms of assorted sizes, most of them small. Order nine single-stem garden roses and they see nine, each carrying about the same weight as the next. Where the count is part of the message, at an anniversary or a milestone birthday, that decides which build you want. Heads grown one to a stem also arrive within a narrow size band, so the top of the bunch sits level instead of stepping up and down.

The number stops being decorative.

That matters more here than it would in a city, because most of what we deliver is opened in front of somebody. Resort birthdays, anniversaries and dinners by the sea all involve a handover with two or three people at close range. A count that reads clearly in that moment is worth more than the volume a lobby arrangement is built for.

Where the bunch is going

Delivery along the west coast takes 90 to 180 minutes, and villas, marinas and airport routes have their own windows. We work 9 AM to 10 PM. Orders start at 2200 THB, and payment goes through card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PromptPay, bank transfer or cash in baht. The hour matters as much as the day, because a heavy head keeps opening while it travels.

Four addresses, four different counts:

  • A table for two at a restaurant by the sea: a small count with space between the heads, since the flowers sit at arm's length all evening.
  • A hotel room in Patong, Kata or Kamala: enough heads to read from the door, and a tighter stage because the room is cooled.
  • An airport arrival: the shortest count that still looks deliberate, built to survive a car.
  • A wedding at a villa: the count is fixed by the plan, and our job is the spacing.

Spacing is the part people do not expect to pay for. A large cupped head on a straight stem needs air around it, or neighbouring flowers press against each other at the petal edges. We build that gap in at the bench, so the bunch looks slightly emptier on day one than the photograph suggested.

A wide open garden rose on a bedside table in a Phuket hotel room

By midweek the gap has closed on its own. Every head has widened, and a bunch packed tight at the start is by then a solid mass with nothing left between the flowers.

The island adds one variable to all of this. Air here sits at 25 to 33 °C and stays humid year round, which suits a packed head, since the petal edges do not dry the way they do in a cooled room indoors. The rooms are the problem instead. Somewhere with a vent running all day slows the opening down, and a bunch that would have widened in three days can still be closed at the end of the week. During the rains from May to October, and on the hill roads in the evening, we add route time and cut a stage tighter to cover it.

Imported roses are the base of this group here. Seasonal peonies arrive in waves, and between those waves a single-stem garden rose answers the same request for a full round head.

"People order a number and picture the bunch on the day it lands. We picture it on Thursday, when every head has doubled in width."

So give us the number and the date. Tell us whether it will be handed over at a table, in a room or at the airport, and we will set the spacing and the stage to match. The count stays yours.
