Valentine's Day flowers in Phuket: the 14th lands in an already loaded week
By the second week of February the west coast is full. Hotels in Kata and Bang Tao run at holiday occupancy, and Patong stops moving after six. The 14th lands in the middle of that week and adds a few thousand bouquets to an island already at capacity.
Why roses cost more in February
Roses get expensive in February everywhere, and Phuket sits at the end of that chain. Farms in Kenya, Ecuador and Colombia sell into one global spike. Everything red and long-stemmed here comes in by air. So a stem that cost one thing in October costs another in the fortnight around the holiday, and no florist here is exempt.
February roses are a seller's market.
We say plainly when a colour is short. We would rather move you to orchids on the 10th than substitute quietly at 6 PM on the 14th.
"Someone always calls on the evening of the 13th wanting fifty red roses. I can usually find the roses. What I cannot find is a courier free to stand on Kata beach at 6:40 PM."

What people buy
Red roses take the biggest share of the day. Twenty-five stems is the size we build most; fifty-one goes to anniversaries that carry weight. Boxes have taken ground from wrapped bouquets, because a box stands on a hotel desk and asks nobody to find a vase.
Orchids are the island's own answer. Thai orchids take 25 to 33 °C and heavy air far better than an open rose, and preserved roses under glass go home in a suitcase.
It is faster to choose by the person than by the flower. Below is what we assemble most often that week. Send the address as well, because where the flowers live for three days changes half of the build.
- A wife — 25 or 51 red roses, delivered home or set on the restaurant table.
- A girlfriend — a red or dusty-pink box, light to carry through a beach club.
- A proposal — 101 roses for the moment, or one fresh rose with a preserved one that stays.
- A first date — five to nine stems in white, peach or lilac, small enough to carry through dinner.
Handovers on the island
A beach handover at sunset gets asked for more than anything else, and forgives the least. In mid-February the sun sets around 6:30 PM, and the light runs twenty minutes past it. Kata, Karon and Surin face west. We need a precise spot: a beach club, a sunbed number, a gate between two hotels. A courier at the wrong end of two kilometres of sand is a wasted evening for everyone.
A restaurant dinner is easier if the table exists first. Tables in Kata, Patong and Phuket Town go early for the 14th. Send the restaurant, the reservation name and the sitting time, and we hand the bouquet to the host before you arrive.
Hotel deliveries run through the front desk. Rosewood Phuket, The Slate Phuket, Trisara and Banyan Tree Phuket take the handover at reception or through the villa host, so send the guest name and room number.
Heat and damp are why we build close to the hour. A rose opens faster in this air than through a dry winter. Greenery softens and ribbon loses its edge. So a 7 PM handover is assembled that afternoon and travels with the lid shut and the van cold.
Ordering and delivery on the day
Delivery runs 9 AM to 10 PM across Phuket Town, Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, Bang Tao, Surin, Rawai, Chalong and Mai Khao. The usual west coast window is 90 to 180 minutes, with separate runs for villas, marinas and the airport. On the 14th those windows tighten, because every courier on the island is carrying flowers while the coast road carries everyone else to dinner.
Order a week out. The night before is a gamble, not a plan.
Give us a two-hour window rather than an exact minute. Orders start from 2200 THB. Payment is by bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PromptPay, bank transfer or cash in THB. The island runs on UTC+7 with no daylight saving, which matters when you book from Europe and want the flowers on the table at the start of dinner.
February rewards people who decide early. Tell us the date, the address and the words for the card. If you are arranging Valentine's Day flowers in Phuket from abroad, write to a manager with the hotel name and the dinner time, and we will build the run backwards from that hour.
