80 cm roses in Phuket: wrapping does structural work
Paper at eighty centimetres does a job that has little to do with decoration. It has to hold the shape from the tie almost to the buds, or the bouquet folds in the middle the first time it changes hands. The outer sheet also takes the knocks that would otherwise bruise the outside row of petals.
Ask how the stems will be kept wet in transit. Long roses go out with the cut ends in a water pack, a sleeve of damp material sealed at the base, and that pack decides whether the bouquet arrives firm or soft.
Heat is what the pack is fighting. The air here sits at 25 to 33 °C and a closed car goes past that within minutes, and warm air opens buds inside the wrapping. The flower the recipient sees is then already past the tight stage that was paid for. Closing the cone over the heads makes it worse rather than better, so the top stays open even when the sides are firm.
Two things go wrong with wrapping at this grade, and both show before you accept the bouquet. A cone that has been folded instead of rolled carries a crease across the middle, and that crease is where the bouquet will bend later. A tie set too high lets the heads splay the moment the paper comes off, which is the fault people usually blame on the flowers.

In the room the length does something a shorter grade cannot. The line of buds sits high, the stems run as a long diagonal through a photograph, and whoever is shooting has to step back and take the whole person. Close in, only part of the bouquet fits the frame at all.
That is why the grade gets ordered for a stage, a prize giving or a large room. A table-sized bouquet disappears against that kind of space.
Small rooms punish it instead.
Where it goes on this island
Along the west coast we deliver in 90 to 180 minutes, with separate windows for villas, marinas and airport routes. Monsoon showers from May to October and evening traffic on the hill roads get route time added before we name a slot. The workshop runs from 9 AM to 10 PM. Tall grades leave early in the day wherever the address allows it.
Resort birthdays and small weddings are where this grade earns its price here. Both happen in rooms or on terraces with space to step back, and both get photographed from a distance. For a dinner by the sea we usually talk the order down a grade.
Hotel rooms are the harder half of the job. Nothing standing in a room will hold an eighty centimetre stem upright, and housekeeping ends up producing a bucket. We say so at the order stage rather than after delivery, because the alternative is a bouquet lying in a bath.

Tell us the room before you tell us the count. 80 cm roses in Phuket work in a space with height and a few metres of floor, and they fight everything smaller than that. If the vase at the other end is a table one, we will cut the stems to suit it in the workshop and nothing is lost by it. If there is no vase at all, say that too, since a bucket of deep water on the first night beats a shallow bowl for a week.
