Green bouquets in Phuket: what actually goes into one
The flowering part is real but modest. Green centred chrysanthemum, hydrangea cut at its early green stage, orchids in the cooler shades, and roses in cultivars that carry a green cast rather than a white one.
White roses are the common mistake. Against foliage they look bleached rather than bright, and the arrangement ends up reading as a failed white bouquet instead of a green one. Cream sits better in the same position, since it carries enough warmth to stop the foliage behind it turning into a background.
Everything else is the greenery itself. Tropical foliage supplies the mass, and stems and leaves that would be filler in any other bouquet become the subject in this one. That changes how they get chosen. A leaf goes in for its edge, its size and whether it is glossy or matt, and a bundle of identical leaves is exactly what makes a green arrangement look like stock rather than like work. Selection takes as long here as it does for flowers, and often longer.

Hydrangea earns its place twice. Fresh, it gives the one large head the arrangement needs, and later it dries in the vase and stays presentable without water, which is why a green bouquet often outlives the week it was bought for.
Orchids do something different again. They bring line rather than mass, and a single stem placed above the foliage sets the height of the whole piece, which matters more here than colour does.
Proportion between flower and leaf is the part worth naming when the order goes in. Around a quarter flowering material reads as a green arrangement with flowers in it, while half reads as a mixed bouquet that happens to be quiet, and those are two different gifts at the same price. Foliage also carries almost no scent, which some recipients prefer in a closed air conditioned room.
Green material forgives a late handover as well. Nothing in the arrangement is timed to open on a particular day, so a run pushed back by an hour of rain still arrives looking exactly as it was built.
At 25 to 33 °C with high humidity, foliage handles the drive better than most cut flowers, so the west coast window of 90 to 180 minutes is comfortable for this category, and so are the separate windows for villas, marinas and airport runs.

Green bouquets in Phuket go to offices, villas and hotel rooms more often than to romantic occasions, and the material is the reason they hold up in all three.
