### Lisianthus bouquets in Phuket: how open the buds should be when the box lands Two orders that look identical on the website need different flowers in the box. One is going to a room at a resort in Kamala before a guest checks in. The other is being handed over at a dinner by the sea that evening, in front of people. Same bouquet, opposite selection. So we ask when it will be given. A bunch made entirely of tight buds looks modest on the day it arrives and comes into its own around the fourth or fifth day. For a room delivery that is exactly right: the recipient is staying a week, the flowers stay in one place, and each morning there is something new open on the branch. Bud after bud opens in sequence, so the vase keeps changing instead of holding one shape and then collapsing. Nobody is comparing it to a photograph taken on day one. A handover is the opposite case. If the moment of giving is the point, at an anniversary table or a small wedding, you want at least two open blooms on every stem so the bouquet reads as full in the first second, and we can select for that when the order comes in early enough. There is one real failure to watch for. Buds cut too green never open at all, staying hard and pale for a week while the rest of the branch carries on, and that is a selection problem rather than something the recipient did wrong. What we need to know before we build: - The date and the hour. - Whether it is a handover or a room drop. - The area: west coast, Phuket Town, a villa, a marina or the airport. - Whether a vase is going with it. Hotel rooms rarely have one wide enough, and this flower needs a wide mouth more than it needs height. The west coast runs on a 90 to 180 minute window, with villas, marinas and airport routes quoted separately. None of that troubles the flower as much as the position of the box does. Lisianthus travels standing up, because flexible tips laid flat for a couple of hours curve towards the light and stay curved. Who takes the box at the other end changes the selection as much as the date does. A resort handover means somebody signs for it and it goes indoors within minutes, which suits tight buds and a long week. A villa where the guests are out all day is a different proposition, and there we would rather agree an hour than leave a sealed box standing in the heat with buds that were selected to open slowly. Ordering early is what makes any of this possible. Selecting stems by how far open they are takes a day or two of notice, and a same day order gets whatever the bench holds, which for a handover that evening is a gamble nobody needs to take.
