People put an arrangement down wherever there is a free surface. At a front door that means a hall table, a kitchen counter or the floor beside whatever the household keeps its shoes on. Two of those three are usually the wrong place.
Moving it once costs nothing at all.
Moving it on the fourth day, when the heads have opened to several times their delivered width, costs petals. Hall tables sit under downlights that dry petal edges. Kitchen counters run warm, and in this climate that is not a small factor. The right spot is dull to describe: out of direct sun, at a height where the arrangement is seen from the side, somewhere it can stay a week without anybody shifting it to lay a table.

Handing it over
Take the weight seriously, because the person receiving it will not expect it. Soaked foam in a lined container turns a light basket into something that wants both hands. It should be passed and lifted from underneath instead of by the handle, which on most baskets is thin decorative weave set into the rim. A courier who hands one over by the handle in a lift is asking for a repeat delivery. Say one sentence about the water while you are there: the stems are already standing in it, nothing needs cutting, and the only job afterwards is a thin stream poured at the rim until the surface stops taking any.
That is the whole handover. Everything else about this format was decided at the bench hours earlier. Nothing the recipient does in the next five minutes can improve it, and one thing can spoil it.
What the island adds
Here the surface question arrives before the road one. A resort room, a villa terrace and a table at a dinner by the sea each hold the arrangement at a different height, and the person carrying it there is rarely the person who ordered it.
Deliveries along the west coast sit in a 90 to 180 minute window, with separate windows for villas, marinas and airport routes. Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, Surin and Bang Tao are in the main band, and Rawai, Chalong, Mai Khao and Phuket Town sit on the same board. We work 9 AM to 10 PM.
Airport arrivals are the exception to all of the above. Nobody is putting the basket down on a surface for an hour, so a piece built for that trip goes into a smaller container with fewer stems in it.
Seasonal peonies arrive in batches, and imported roses and hydrangeas hold the shoulders of the build while tropical foliage covers the foam at the rim. At 25 to 33 °C the heads open faster than a catalogue photograph suggests. Orders start at 2200 THB, and payment goes by bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PromptPay, bank transfer or cash to the courier in baht.
The rainy season runs May to October and we add route time for it, as we do for evening traffic on the hill roads. A basket takes that in its stride, since the flowers drink the whole way.
The short season is the reason people choose peonies at all, and the basket exists so that the recipient loses none of that window to preparation.
