### Light blue roses in Phuket: why one batch differs from the next Three things move at once when a rose is dyed pale. The variety underneath matters, since a thick waxy petal takes up dye more slowly than a thin one and finishes lighter at the same soak. Time in the solution matters as well, and at the pale end an hour is the difference between sky and grey. The white the rose started from is the third. A cream white base pulls the finished colour towards green, while a cold white keeps it clean. None of that is carelessness on anyone's part. Dye changes the colour and leaves the rest of the flower alone. A pale blue rose lasts as long as the white one it came from, drinks the same and opens on the same schedule. Sun is the one exception, since dye breaks down faster than natural pigment and a bright sill takes the blue out within a few days while the petal is still firm. It is what happens when a colour is added rather than grown. Repeatability is the price of the process, and every dyed shade pays it. Count changes how that variation reads. Three pale blue stems inside a mixed bunch can differ noticeably and nobody notices, because the eye has other things to look at. Those two answers decide whether a delivery is right or wrong long before anybody sees the flowers. Written into the order, they also survive a change of hands halfway through the week. #### What the island adds Imported roses reach us already dyed, and the batch is whatever came in that week. We keep two batches out of one bunch, because at pale intensity the join between them shows. On a large order that sometimes means the second half goes out a day later, and we say which addresses got which half. Orders start from 2200 THB. Payment goes by bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PromptPay, bank transfer or cash to the courier in baht. Humidity works on the finish more than on the shade. A pale petal in air at 25 to 33 °C stays soft, soft petals mark easily, and a mark on a dyed pale rose shows up as a change of colour. These bunches are handled last on the bench and wrapped dry. Delivery runs 90 to 180 minutes along the west coast, with separate windows for villas, marinas and airport routes.
