Yellow roses in Phuket: direct sun is a separate matter
Lighting changes how yellow appears. Sunlight changes what it is. Ultraviolet breaks the pigment down and yellow gives way faster than red or crimson, so a week on a bright sill turns a clear sunlit tone into something washed out and vaguely grey.
Warmth from the same window does the second half of the damage. It opens the heads early and dries the petal edges. A yellow bouquet on a bright sill can look ten days old after three.

Where the sun actually reaches
The bright sill is not the only hazard here, because a great many rooms open straight onto a terrace. A humid tropical climate at 25 to 33 °C means those doors stay open, and the flowers spend most of the day in moving sunlit air. That combination costs a yellow bouquet more than heat on its own ever would, and it is the reason we ask which side of the villa the table sits on.
- A villa in Bang Tao or Surin: the vase belongs in the part of the room the terrace light never reaches.
- A room at The Slate Phuket or Veranda Resort Phuket, where a table set back from the window beats the balcony rail.
- A restaurant table in Kata or Karon for a single evening. Sun is irrelevant there, so take the palest lemon you like.
Delivery runs 90 to 180 minutes along the west coast, with separate windows for villas, marinas and airport routes. During monsoon showers from May to October and in evening hill traffic we add route time.
The drive is short next to the week that follows, and it still gets protected. A wrapped bunch standing at a gate in the middle of the day takes more ultraviolet than an evening indoors will ever undo. Yellow orders stay covered on the road, and on the airport and marina runs they travel in a closed box.
The rainy months are gentler on this colour than the dry ones, since less direct sun means the pigment holds. The trade is humidity, which softens pale petals and makes them easy to mark, though sun is the one that does permanent damage.
A bouquet that has already faded is a decision rather than a repair. The pigment does not return, the flower itself is usually still firm, and the choice is between moving the vase and living with the paler colour or pulling the yellow out and keeping the rest of the bunch. Most people move the vase.
One thing to check when they arrive
Pale petals mark easily, and yellow shows a bruise as a translucent grey patch instead of a brown one. That makes it simple to miss on a quick look, especially in the flat light of a hallway. Tilt the head towards a window and turn it once.
A pink or reddish flush along the petal edge is a different thing entirely. On many yellow varieties it deepens naturally as the bloom opens. It belongs to the flower and says nothing about how long it has left.
