60 cm roses in Phuket: warm air and the week after
The island runs at 25 to 33 °C most of the year, and humid warm air changes what a long stem has to do. Moisture leaves the petals faster than it would in a cool room, and the stem has sixty centimetres to cover before it can replace the loss. A short bouquet forgives a skipped day of care, and this length does not.
The road works on the same clock. Along the west coast we deliver in 90 to 180 minutes, with separate windows for villas, marinas and airport routes. During the rainy season from May to October, and on the hill roads in the evening, we add route time instead of promising a slot we would miss. A bouquet at this length travels upright with a wet base through all of it, because laid flat in a boot it arrives with a scuffed outer row.
Villas take more notice than any other address on the island. We ask about the gate and the last stretch of driveway before the build, since the courier often finishes the trip on foot with the bouquet held up on one shoulder.
Orders start at 2200 THB. Payment goes by bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PromptPay, bank transfer or cash in baht, and the workshop takes orders from 9 AM to 10 PM. Long grades leave early in the day wherever the address allows it.

Water, and how fast it goes
Fill the vase deep, at least a third of the stem, and top it up daily. Long stems drink noticeably more than short ones, and at island temperature the level drops visibly within a day.
Cloudy water is the other half of the problem. Bacteria multiply fast in the warmth and seal the cut within a day, after which topping up changes nothing at all. Change the water completely and rinse the vase each time. Strip every leaf that would sit below the waterline, since submerged foliage rots first and feeds everything else in the vase.
Cut with a sharp knife, never scissors.
Scissors crush the vessels flat at the point where the flower needs them open, and on a long stem that alone costs several days. A clean angled cut takes a second longer. Repeat it every couple of days when the water goes.
The first hour decides more than the rest of the week. A bouquet that reaches deep water within an hour of arriving holds a fuller head for days afterwards, while one left wrapped on a counter through a warm afternoon never quite catches up.
Where the vase stands
Position does more here than anything you can add to the water.
- Direct sun through glass dries the outer petals before the stem can answer.
- The draught from an air conditioner does the same thing faster and without the heat.
- A bowl of fruit releases ethylene as it ripens and brings the buds on early.
Cool nights extend the life of these roses more than any other habit at home. A room that holds one temperature overnight beats a room that swings from cold to warm and back again.
60 cm roses in Phuket usually land in a hotel room or a villa, where the container on the table was chosen for the table and not for the flowers. Cut the stems down to suit it on the first evening and let the extra length go. If nothing suitable is there, a bucket for the first hour does more for the bouquet than a shallow bowl does for a week.
