Baskets with peonies in Bali: the first minute at the door
A wrapped bouquet arrives as a task. Somebody takes it, holds it while finding a surface, opens the paper, then goes looking for a container and a pair of scissors, and the flowers are only properly seen once all of that is over. An arrangement on foam arrives finished, so the door opens on the object itself.
That difference shows in the first minute.
What registers first
Scale comes first, before colour and long before variety. A peony head reads as a sphere rather than as a set of petals. A dozen spheres above a woven rim look like more flowers than a dozen stems in paper, because none of the volume is hidden inside a wrapper. Colour comes next, and indoor light in a villa treats pale pink and white far better than it treats a deep red build. Scent arrives third and stays longest in the memory of the day.
Coral holds its own in a dim hallway. A deep red arrangement needs a bright room to show anything beyond its outline, which is worth knowing before choosing it for an evening delivery.
Four doors it opens onto

- A resort address in Seminyak, Canggu or Berawa, handed over at the door and put down straight away.
- A dinner in Ubud. The table is booked, the piece has to sit low enough for people to talk across it, and nobody there has a spare minute for a vase.
- A house in Sanur on a long stay, where the same person sees it every morning for a week.
Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur sit in a 90 to 150 minute window, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and the remote villas take up to 3 to 4 hours. We work 9 AM to 10 PM, orders start at 650000 IDR, and payment goes through QRIS, GoPay, OVO, DANA or cash to the courier. Above 30 °C and in high humidity we wrap firmly and pack a cooling element for the road.

Weight is the part nobody expects at the door. Soaked foam in a lined container turns a light basket into something that wants both hands, and it is passed and lifted from underneath rather than by the handle, which on most baskets is thin decorative weave set into the rim. Say one sentence about the water while you are there, since the stems are already standing in it and nothing needs cutting.
Seasonal peonies come in batches, so what sits beside them shifts through the year. Macrophylla hydrangea fills the space between heads, ranunculus and lisianthus add detail near the rim, and tropical foliage covers the foam.

The rainy months run November to March and the drier stretch roughly April to October, and we add route time whenever the weather asks for it.
