150 cm roses in Bali: what happens in the house afterwards
Most bouquets at this height get cut down within a day of arriving. That is simply what a metre and a half of stem does when it meets an ordinary room, and it is worth knowing before the order rather than after.
The length buys a moment. It does not buy a week.
Start with what the recipient actually has. A vase tall enough to hold these stems upright is a piece of furniture rather than something kept in a cupboard, and a rented villa in Canggu or a room in Nusa Dua has neither the vessel nor the corner to stand it in. Without one the bunch either leans against a wall or gets shortened that evening. Water is the other half of it, since a stem this long has to lift water much further and softens under the head sooner, so the first trim comes early whatever anybody intended. By the end of the week the bouquet is standard height, and every tall bouquet arrives at that point eventually.
What we ask before sending this grade
- whether the address is a villa, a hotel room or a venue, since only one of the three usually has somewhere to stand it
- whether the flowers are for a moment or for the fortnight, because the answer changes the grade rather than the price
- who is at the address to take delivery, given that this length cannot be left leaning in a doorway
- how far the bunch travels after the handover, which is often further than the delivery itself.
Delivery into Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur runs 90 to 150 minutes, and Uluwatu, Tabanan and villas off the main roads take 3 to 4 hours. At the longer distance a metre and a half spends the whole journey lying down, so we build tighter buds and move the slot to the morning. Orders start at 650,000 IDR, payment goes through GoPay, QRIS or cash to the courier, and the workshop runs from 9 AM to 10 PM.
The trim itself
Cutting a tall bouquet down is ordinary work rather than damage, and doing it properly takes five minutes. Take the whole bunch out of the wrapping first, decide the height against the vessel it is actually going into, then cut every stem at an angle in one pass so the ends finish level. Cutting them one at a time is how a bunch ends up uneven and refuses to stand.
Keep the offcuts if they are long enough. A second small arrangement out of the lower halves is the usual outcome, and in a villa with several rooms it is the more useful one.
The one thing not to do is trim in stages over a week without ever changing the water properly. That is how a tall bouquet quietly becomes a short one with nothing left in it.
When the full grade is right anyway
An ocean villa with a high open room takes it comfortably, and so does a wedding at Jimbaran where the flowers compete with an open horizon. In those two settings a shorter bunch reads as a smaller gesture whatever it cost, and the money is better spent on the height than on the count.
The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan and venues like it will find somewhere to stand a tall bouquet between delivery and the moment it is needed. That is worth arranging in advance, because an hour lying flat in a car undoes more than an hour standing in water ever could.

If you want more flower rather than more height, put the money into the count or the head grade instead. The same budget buys noticeably more bloom at a shorter length, and none of it needs a vase that has to be bought first.
