1001 roses in Bali: the working life of a very large piece
An order of this size is discussed right up to the moment it is delivered, and then nobody mentions it again. A thousand stems have a working life, and it is shorter than most people assume when they place the order. Knowing that number changes where the piece goes and when it goes there.
Roses cut and delivered fresh hold one to two weeks in a vase, and a piece of this size is not in a vase. Stems set in foam get less water than stems standing free, the outer rows dry first, and a large built piece looks its best on the first two days rather than the tenth.
Warm rooms full of people shorten that further. Body heat, lighting and closed windows put an evening's worth of wear on flowers in a few hours, which is why an arrangement that looked immaculate at the start of a party can look tired by the end of it. None of this is a fault in the flowers.
There is a version of this order that often works better than one large piece. Splitting a thousand stems across three or four positions gives the room the same volume and lets each part be built at its own hour.
Four questions we ask before quoting a piece this size here.
- The address. Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur sit inside a 90 to 150 minute window, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and villas off the main roads run to 3 to 4 hours.
- The hour the site becomes available. A thousand stems arrive as several loads, and the last one wants to land close to the start.
- Whether the site is open or covered. Above 30 °C and in high humidity we add firm wrapping and a cooling element, and an open terrace needs a tighter build.
- The date. Every rose here is imported, and a thousand matched heads take planning.
Timing it against the evening
The build takes several people and several hours, and that time has to come out of the venue's schedule. We would rather start early and finish close to the guests arriving. A piece that stands finished for half a day in island heat gives its best hours to an empty room.
Through the rains from November to March we add route time and keep loads wrapped until they are under cover. The drier season from April to October is the simpler half of the year for work at this scale, and it is also when open sites behave predictably.
Nothing here waits well outdoors.
We work from 9 AM to 10 PM, orders start at 650000 IDR, and payment goes through QRIS, GoPay, OVO, DANA or cash to the courier. Pieces of this scale are agreed separately from the catalogue.
The end of the evening is worth deciding in advance too. Somebody takes the piece apart, an hour is a reasonable expectation for one person, and doing it the same night beats doing it in the morning once the water has fouled. Ask us at the order stage to collect the frame and the containers.
"The flowers are at their best for two days and the room only needs them for one. We plan the build backwards from that."

For 1001 roses in Bali, send the venue, the date and the hour the site opens for setup. We will tell you how many loads that takes and what the last one costs in wall clock time. If the piece is going to a villa or a Jimbaran wedding site, confirm early, since a thousand matched heads come out of a shipment that has to be planned. Decide before the night who carries the stems out afterwards.
